Pool Complex

The main Resort swimming pools were redesigned in March of 2012 with a paver-style deck, pergolas, all new furnishings and umbrellas. These beautifully landscaped pools were created with the tropics in mind, and are positioned in between the Oceanfront Building and the beach. Relax while the kids play in one of our two children’s pools - one is 1-foot deep and the other 3-feet deep - and adjacent large sandy play area.

The Historic Delegal Dining Room, famed for its stunning stained glass window murals and ocean vistas, hosts our Southern Charm Sunday Brunch as well as the Legendary Friday Night Seafood Buffet (every Friday from February through November). Ocean Terrace Grille opened in March 2012, serving the main Resort pools with refreshing beverages, snacks, and sandwiches. Many of our guests say our poolside service is their favorite amenity of the Resort, as they can enjoy both beverage and lunch while watching their children play in the pools.

A ground floor, Ocean Front room, the Delegal is the formal dining room of the Resort. It features large picture windows with antique stained glass transoms that overlook the Lawn and the Atlantic Ocean.

Solarium Room

History

The King And Prince Hotel

The King and Prince Reosrt was built in 1035 and intended as a private club rather than a resort. Its name was coined by friends of owners Frank Horn and Morgan Wynn who felt the name befitting its regal atmosphere. Three months after opening, a fire, attributed to arson, destroyed the Club. Two months later it was rebuilt and reopened featuring a lovely Mediterranean architectural theme.

King And Prince Dance Patio

The Club's fashionable parlors, bar, ballroom, ladies' lounge, card room, ourtdoor palm garden and elaborate beachfront boardwalk quickly established its reputation for elegance and warm hospitality. During the 1930s, numberour renovations were added including a terrazzo dance floor and the famous King and Prince stained glass windows.

The Famous Board Walk CS

On July 2, 1941, The King and Prince Hotel, after the addition of 110 guest rooms, opened its doors to the public. Praised for its modern features, guest rooms were equipped with ceiling fans, circulating ice water, louvered doors and a combination shower/tub in each room.

Protective Hotel (KAnd PHotel )Outfitted For War

During the winter of 1942 German U-Boats were sighted off the Georgia coast. The Hotel closed to the public for the duration of World War II but remained open to the U.S. Navy. The Navy set up a radar station and also provided other renovations inlcuding a deep water well, a larger kitchen and a beach embankment to protect the shore from erosion.

King And Prince Hotel Swimming Pool

The King and Prince reopened to the public in 1947. The grace and charm of the Resort and personal tending of each guest's needs made The King and Prince a choice beach vacation destination during the Resort era of the 1950's and 60's. Missippi Management Inc. purchased the Hotel in 1980 and renovated and expanded the hotel to what it is today. In 1996, the Resort joined Historic Hotesl of America and was named to The National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
